g-star raw acquires 17 mono-brand stores

Morris Law has assisted the international denim trademark G-Star RAW in the acquisition of the 17 existing G-Star RAW mono-brand stores in Sweden from its franchisee Global Retail Sweden.

The trademark G-Star was founded in Amsterdam 1989 and has as per today more than 6 500 points of sale in 63 countries worldwide, of which 350 are mono-brand stores. First present in Sweden in 1998, the brand has built a strong relationship with Swedish consumers since the opening of its first mono-brand store in 2008. With this acquisition from Global Retail, G-Star takes another step forward in the Swedish market as this change presents the opportunity for G-Star to get closer to the consumers and serve them optimally with innovative denim products. In this effort, G-Star is increasing the focus on controlled space in order to transform into a direct retail organization.

Morris Law’s team mainly consisted of Caroline Ygge as responsible partner/lawyer, Olof Myhrman partner/lawyer (M&A), Hampus Wikerstål (M&A), Niclas Lindblad (IP/Commercial agreements) and Johanna Elvander Juhlin, lawyer (M&A).

Global Retail Sweden AB was represented by Advokatfirman Delphi with a team consisting of Sverker Bonde as responsible partner/lawyer and Hannah Gröndal, lawyer (M&A).
